Introduction To Huanghuai University

Huanghuai University is a state-owned full-time comprehensive university established with the approval of Education Ministry. In its 32-year history, it has become a multi-disciplinary institution, including seven major disciplines: technology, pure science, agriculture, management science, economics, humanities and education.

     It is conveniently located in Zhumadian, a city of central-south Henan Province, on the Beijing-Guangzhou railway line, the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway and two major highways. It has a pleasant climate with four clear seasons.

     There are many places of interests and historic sites within reach:  Chaya Mountain, Boshan Reservoir, Nanhai temple, Longmen Caves in Luoyang, the famous Shaolin Temple and the ancient capital city--Kaifeng, which is only 3 hours by train. The Xinzheng International Airport is only 2 hours drive away.

 It has a beautiful garden style campus. Decades of experience in university administration and deep accumulation of learning have laid a solid foundation for students to learn, to study, to do research and live.  

     The university has an area of 2087 hectares and floor space occupies 200,000 square meters. It not only has modern classroom buildings, laboratory buildings, library, art building, gymnasium and other teaching and other teaching and learning facilities, but also dining-rooms, apartments, supermarket, student activity center and other living facilities.

     Huanghuai University offers 32 specialties: civil engineering, architecture, electronics, science and technology, computer science and technology, informational engineering, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, Chinese language and literature, history, journalism, English, marketing, accounting, music, fine arts, art design, chemical arts and crafts, modern education technology, tourism and hotel management, engineering management, real estate management, gym, gardening technology, and environmental monitoring.

     Of 983 full-time faculty members many have master's degree and doctorates; some have been awarded provincial prizes for excellence in their fields, others are top-notch scholars and older experienced teachers. The University also invites many well-known experts, scholars and part-time professors to lecture, including some academicians of China Academy of Science.    

      Huanghuai University also greatly encourages combining scientific learning with taching and industrial development. It has initiated scientific research groups in mathematics, coordination chemistry, Tianzhong Historic and Cultural Research, and Modern Chinese Language Research.

     The university has established school workshops and bases for students to put their knowledge into practical use, and an architectural engineering design institute to coordinate teaching and learning, scientific research and industrial development. In the last 3 years, the various faculties of Huanghuai University have published 274 monographs and over 2,500 theses.  The Huanghuai University Journal has earned national recognition for its excellence.

     In its long experience the university has oriented itself toward modernization, facing the world, looking to the future, aiming at economic and social development, and has as its guiding principle "putting students¡¯ education first, emphasizing quality and winning by creating new approaches", while continuously carrying on reform of education, teaching and learning.

     Huanghuai graduates are scattered through various areas of China and the world. They are found in all walks of life and have earned high praise from their work units.

     The college has been recruiting foreign teachers since 1990 and at present it has 6 of them. It provides them with comfortable and inviting accommodations.

     The university is now on the fast track of its development, aiming to guarantee the qualities of its social and economic benefits while optimizing disciplinary structure. It has entered into cooperation with foreign universities of developed countries in the training of undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as with well-known Chinese universities with the aim of exchanging ideas in teaching, learning and scientific research.
